On Thursday, May 23rd, head to Avenida Houston for a continuation of the popular Party on the Plaza series! Catch a free performance of local and regional bands on the Bud Light Stage along Avenida Plaza, in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center. It’s all happening next Thursday night!
This event will feature Kishi Bashi and Ugly Wolves. Enjoy craft beer specials, food, games and more while you listen to live music! This event is great for children and families, and all ages are welcome to attend.
Shortly after Ishibashi debuted his full-length solo album 151a, NPR’s All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen listed Kishi Bashi as his favorite artist of 2012, noting that he created "a radiant, uplifting soundscape" with songs such as "Bright Whites." Kishi Bashi has since been invited to participate in major festivals such as SXSW and Austin City Limits. In early 2013, Kishi Bashi held a North American tour across the United States and Canada. His new album Omoiyari is set to be released on May 31, 2019.
Ugly Wolves is an independent Korean-American record label established in 2018. Ugly Wolves stand up for the "stubborn, abnormal, extraordinary, and the weird." The eponymous band Ugly Wolves is based in Houston and have participated in Sanders Island View July 4th Party, Korean Festival 2018, and hosted Korean Festival After Party 2018. In January 2019, Ugly Wolves ran their first official show at Warehouse Live in Houston.
